In recent Nature paper, the researchers describe how they investigated gut fungi in mice and humans with pancreatic cancer.

As per CDC records pancreatic cancer is amongst the 10 most common cancers.

A recent study by Dr, Miller, and colleagues analyzed stool samples of mice with and without Pancreatic duct adenocarcinoma, has clearly traced the progress of fungi by tagging fluorescent proteins of their journey from Gastro-Intestinal tract into the pancreas.

The most common Fungus found was Malassezia in the cancerous tissues.

Malassezia fungi are generally found on the skin and scalp and are responsible for dandruff and some forms of eczema, recent studies have linked them to skin and colorectal cancers.
